Prophecy (1978)

Director: John Frankenheimer

Idealistic husband and wife team up with some Indians to fight the big bad paper mill that's destroying their land. Oh, the paper mill is also dumping mercury into the water, causing the local wildlife to mutate and grow very, very big. The title creature is some sort of mutated bear, but don't worry, you won't catch a glimpse of it until nearly an hour in. Until then, the most exciting thing that happens is a rabid raccoon attack and lots of shots of actors standing around and staring off into space. There lots of babbling about the environment and other self important stuff that tells you this sucker is taking tself waaaay to seriously. The killer bear itself is sorta lame, it's sorta turned inside out and just sorta tosses people around. The lone highlight here is the bears attack on a hapless ten year old who try's to outrun the bear by hopping away in his sleeping bag...unintentionally hilarious. I think I rewound it and watched that part about three times. Boring and uneventful all around...skip it.
