Freddy's Nightmares "Rebel Without A Car" (1988)
Longhair/grease-monkey Alex is ready to graduate Springwood High with no future in sight. His preppie girl Connie is off to Springwood College, his parents are on his ass to graduate and all he wants to do is leave Springwood in the dust. When he's not sulking about his future and fighting with his girlfriend, Alex spends his time getting harassed by the "Aces", who apparently are the local hot rod gang of sorts. After finding an old abandoned dragster by the side of the road, Alex restores the old girl to glory and hopes it's his ticket out of Springwood, Unbeknownst to Alex, the car is a "death car", haunted by the previous owner and original founder of the "Aces" who's going to make sure Alex does anything but leave Springwood. There's lots of bad acting, a really crummy looking "hot rod gang", bad acting and, well, even more bad acting. You gotta love the "Aces", they all look like Mad Max rejects and always show up to the tune of some really bad 80's rock to give em' that "tough" image. The zombie that harasses Alex through the episode is particularly bad, he's basically the leader of the current Aces with some oatmeal slapped on his face. Yawn. Oh, and Alex doesn't get out of Springwood...in case you wondered.
Part two focuses on Alex's girlfriend Connie, eager to move on with her life after her boyfriends death. She's going to Springwood College to make something of her life dammit, and has high hopes of joining the local bitchy stuck up sorority house that wants absolutely nothing to do with her. Connie is ran through initiation hell until she decides to give a little hell back to her tormentors. Probably the most interesting thing about this segment is that is stars the little nerdy chick from Friday the 13th 7: The New Blood. You know, the one who get's all dressed up only to play hide and seek with Jason in the barn? Well, she dies again as do all the other "sisters" as Connie is pushed to the brink and then pushes back. Features some really bad FX and lots of annoying preppy girls emitting ear piercing laughter. Very blah episode saved only by some fairly witty Freddy appearances.
Freddy Say's:
"Hi! This baby comes with my guarantee, one mile or the driver's life, whichever comes first!"
"If you're thinking of leaving Springwood, you ain't going nowhere."
"Don't worry, here at Corpus Rigimortis, we're always looking for new members. Bula Bula."
"Ah, the old college try, if you can't join em'...roast em!"
